NEW FOR FALL '24!
We honor the Acadians, those hearty French Canadians, who tamed the north woods of Maine and Eastern Canada, with our new half wedge axe. Coming in at 2.75 lbs. and hung on a 30" Amish-turned hickory handle, it is a little beefier than our Allagash Cruiser so go ahead and tackle those bigger projects.
The difference from our Maine wedge pattern Allagash Cruiser can be seen in its thicker poll putting more power when splitting or chopping.
In a nod to the Maine axe makers of the past, (and different than the stamp on our other axes) we stamped "Brant & Cochran S. Portland, ME" on the head.
Comes with a Maine-made leather sheath.
Good things take time: Estimated delivery 10-12 weeks
One difference between The Acadian and our Allagash Cruiser is the extra weight and width of the poll. This gives The Acadian more splitting power when balanced on a 30" Amish-turned hickory handle.
To honor Maine's axe industry, the stamp on our Acadian pays homage to its great makers such as Spiller who proudly stamped the city where they forged their axes. Oakland for Spiller and South Portland for Brant & Cochran.
